SUSAN BENNERSTROM
Oil Pastel Paintings on Panel
October 12 through November 23, 2002
Opening Reception:
Saturday, October 12, 4 to 7 p.m
Terrence Rogers Fine Art is pleased to
announce the first southern California
exhibition of works by Susan Bennerstrom.
Utilizing a unique technique of oil pastel on
gessoed panel, Bennerstrom luminously depicts
details of interiors spaces: a highly
polished floor, the backlit geometry of a
window frame or the serpentine twist of a
stairway. Bennerstrom's work celebrates the
stillness and silence found in a room
inhabited only by light and space. In these
interiors, light and multiple reflections
intersect and bounce off surfaces to create
her colorful and abstract compositions. Susan
Bennerstrom resides in Bellingham, Washington
where she teaches at the Pratt Fine Art
Center in Seattle. She has shown in Seattle
since 1981, and at galleries nationally (New
York, Santa Fe, San Francisco and Portland,
OR) since 1989. Currently on exhibit at the
Whatcom Museum of History and Art in
Bellingham, Washington is a ten year
retrospective of her work entitled: Existing
Light. |
