KENNY
HARRIS
January 24 -
February 28, 2004
Opening Saturday,
January 24, 2004, Terrence Rogers Fine Art is
pleased to present its first solo exhibition
of paintings by the Venice based artist Kenny
Harris.
Harris’ paintings explore the spectral
qualities of reflected light. With a palette
bracketed by
Lead White and Black Ivory, Harris captures
perceptual subtleties in different values of
light and shadow and, through these devices,
physically stimulates the viewer’s eye. A
typical composition consists of a succession
of mostly empty spaces seen through a
doorway, arch or hallway. Light from a rear
window or an open door reflects off a
polished, shiny floor. Painting on site and
from photographic notes, Harris’ gestured,
loosely painted images serve to recreate the
physical act of seeing.
This exhibition follows several group and
studio shows, including a successful
two-person show at Terrence Rogers Fine Art
mounted last January. In that show he was
singled out: “This is an artist worth
watching” by the local gallery guide ArtScene.
Born in 1974 in Palo Alto, CA, Harris
received his B.A. in Fine Art from Colorado
College in Colorado Springs. Additionally he
studied in Florence, Italy and the Art
Students League in New York. |
